Belle Fourche; My West River Home

Home. A simple four-letter word that holds so much meaning. If you had asked me 5 years ago where I would be calling home right now I probably wouldn't have said Belle Fourche, SD honestly I probably didn't even know it existed.

However, that's one thing about how unpredictable life can be as it can take you to new places and lead you down new and exciting paths. In 2020 my path lead me to Belle Fourche and I am so glad that I call this little town my home.

Come visit!

If you are making a trip to the Black Hills I highly recommend taking a day trip to Belle Fourche! Don't think a town of only 5,600 has that much to do? Think again!

Here are a few of my favorite places and hidden gems of the town that will help fill your day!

Food & Drink

If you know me; you know that I love doughnuts! There is just something that brings me so much happiness when I walk through the doors and smell the freshly baked pastries. Open only on Fridays & Saturdays, 8th Ave. Bakery creates some of the most delicious pastries in the Northern Hills!

Their menu includes doughnuts, danishes, cruffins, and so much more; and sometimes includes seasonal items. Plan to stop by early as they sell out most days!

One of my favorite places to eat in town is Wild Magnolia Coffee Bar. I love meeting up with friends for lunch or just grabbing a coffee in the morning. Their food menu includes breakfast and lunch options such as bagels, acai bowls, sandwiches, and salads.

If you are looking to try a fun drink I highly recommend checking out their seasonal specials or trying a coffee flight!

My go-to lunch order is the Smokehouse Panini with kettle chips or a breakfast sandwich.

By far the best Chinese takeout in the Northern Black Hills! Our go-to order is the Orange Chicken with an order of Crab Rangoons but they have so many great options that you are sure to find something that you will enjoy.

Orders will take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to be ready so you should call early to place your order. Currently, they are only taking orders for takeout.

Things to Do

Looking for a family-friendly activity while you are in town? The Tri-State Museum & Center of The Nation Visitor's Center is a great option! The museum has a variety of displays and exhibits, my favorite ones are the interactive ones. I have always enjoyed history and they have done an outstanding job of showcasing and preserving the history of Belle Fourche.

The museum offers different outdoor exhibits as well including the Center of The Nation Monument and the Johnny Spaulding Cabin. Belle Fourche can also be called the "Center of the Nation" since it lies near the geographic center of the United States. You should also keep an eye on their calendar for fun events and new exhibits.

Nothing beats getting outside and walking around town. Belle Fourche has a great walking/bike path that weaves its way through town. The path highlights the beauty of Belle Fourche including where the Redwater & Belle Fourche Rivers meet, one of my favorite spots in town.

Since moving here Nate and I have gone on countless walks on the River Walk. I highly recommend finding a path/trail system near your home as well, especially if you are new to town. It will be a great way for you to explore your surroundings and maybe find your new favorite spot!

Other Things to Do:

Belle Fourche may not be my home forever but it will forever hold a special place in my heart. ❤️
